Maple on Main — Membership Terms
Maple on Main Literary Society

Membership Terms

These Membership Terms explain the terms that apply to your participation in the Maple on Main Literary Society. Please review them carefully before completing your membership.

Please Read Before Joining

By completing a Literary Society membership, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and understand these Membership Terms together with the Membership Policies and the membership information provided during the enrollment process.

01 · Membership

Your membership provides an ongoing place in the Society.

Maple on Main Literary Society memberships provide access to the benefits, experiences, materials, and member offerings associated with the membership you select.

Membership remains active while the applicable monthly membership payments remain current, subject to these Membership Terms and the Membership Policies.

02 · Enrollment

New members join the next available Reading Season.

Maple on Main Reading Seasons are two months long. New members do not begin in the middle of an existing Reading Season.

Once enrollment for a Reading Season has closed, new members are placed into the next available Reading Season.

Existing active members continue automatically into the next Reading Season and do not need to re-enroll.

03 · Billing & Payments

Membership payments are collected monthly.

Membership payments are collected on the 1st of each month while your membership remains active.

  • Your first payment is collected one month before your Reading Season begins.
  • Your next monthly payment is collected on the 1st of the month in which your Reading Season begins.
  • Monthly billing continues while your membership remains active.
04 · Reading Seasons

Each season offers a new chapter of the Society experience.

Reading Seasons are designed around two-month periods of reading, conversation, community, and seasonal experiences.

Your membership continues from one Reading Season to the next as long as your membership remains active. You do not need to select or purchase each season separately.

05 · Membership Benefits

Your selected membership determines your experience.

Each Literary Society membership includes the benefits and materials described on its corresponding membership page at the time of enrollment.

Membership benefits may differ by membership level. Maple Premier, Reader’s Edition, The Gathering, and The Invitation each have their own experience and fulfillment details.

The Invitation is a gift membership. The recipient receives a Gift Activation Code and, once activated, the gift membership becomes a Maple Premier membership and receives the full Maple Premier experience.

06 · Maple Mail & Seasonal Materials

Physical materials are prepared in advance for the season.

Physical membership materials, including Maple Mail and seasonal items, are prepared in advance and ship during the first week of the applicable Reading Season.

Your first monthly payment provides time for seasonal preparation. Digital access may become available immediately after joining, while physical materials follow the seasonal fulfillment schedule.

  • Maple Premier includes the full Maple Mail experience.
  • Reader’s Edition includes a few thoughtfully curated Maple Mail items as described with that membership.
  • The Gathering includes its designated light blue Maple Mail envelope experience.
  • The Invitation is delivered as a gift experience and, after activation, receives the full Maple Premier Maple Mail experience.
07 · Member Access

Membership access is connected to your member account.

Members receive access to the member-only portions of the Maple on Main website associated with their active membership.

Membership access is intended for the individual member associated with the membership account and may not be transferred to another person except where Maple on Main expressly provides for a gift membership.

08 · Cancellation

You may cancel your membership at any time.

A membership cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid membership month. Payments for the current paid month are non-refundable.

Physical seasonal materials that have already been prepared or shipped cannot be cancelled or refunded.

Society Shop purchases are separate from Literary Society membership and are governed by the Society Shop’s separate Return & Refund Policy.

09 · Community Chat & Member Conduct

A welcoming space for thoughtful conversation and connection.

The Maple on Main Community Chat is a place for members to connect throughout the Reading Season and beyond the pages of the monthly book. We want it to feel warm, welcoming, thoughtful, and easy to participate in.

Members are welcome to talk about the current book, other books they're reading, favorite passages, reading observations, recipes, seasonal favorites, what they're enjoying, everyday life, and other interests that naturally fit within the spirit of the Society.

The Community Chat is intended to encourage conversation and connection—not to require everyone to have the same opinions or interests. Members agree to help maintain a respectful environment by following these guidelines:

  • Be Kind & Respectful. Treat fellow members with courtesy and kindness. Different opinions, perspectives, personalities, and reactions are welcome. Personal attacks, bullying, harassment, intimidation, threats, or intentionally hurtful comments are not permitted.
  • Talk About Books & Life. Members may share thoughts about the current Reading Season book, other books they're reading, favorite passages, reading observations, recipes, seasonal interests, everyday life, and things they are enjoying. Conversation does not have to stay strictly limited to the current book.
  • Disagree With Kindness. Members will not always agree about a book, character, ending, interpretation, recipe, or opinion. Thoughtful disagreement is welcome. Criticizing or attacking another member personally is not.
  • Be Considerate About Spoilers. Members read at different speeds. Please respect where others may be in a book. Significant plot developments, endings, or other spoilers should be clearly identified, and available spoiler features or designated spoiler areas should be used when provided.
  • Protect Member Privacy. Do not share another member's personal information, photographs, screenshots, private messages, or other private communications outside the Society without their permission.
  • Keep the Community Welcoming. Content that is hateful, discriminatory, threatening, abusive, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate for the Maple on Main community is not permitted.
  • No Unsolicited Promotion or Solicitation. The Community Chat may not be used for spam, advertising, repeated promotion, fundraising, commercial solicitation, or promotion of unrelated businesses, products, or services without permission from Maple on Main Literary Society.
  • Respect the Space. Maple on Main may remove content or restrict, suspend, or end community access when reasonably necessary to protect the safety, integrity, or welcoming nature of the Society.

We don't have to agree about every book, recipe, or opinion. That's part of what makes conversation interesting. We simply ask that we disagree with kindness.

Maple on Main is a place for good stories, meaningful conversation, and genuine connection. Thank you for helping us keep it that way.

10 · Changes to Membership

Maple on Main may update the Society experience as it grows.

Maple on Main may make reasonable changes to membership experiences, seasonal offerings, website features, or fulfillment details as needed to operate and improve the Literary Society.

If a change materially affects an existing membership obligation, Maple on Main will provide appropriate notice where required.

11 · Acceptance

Your membership begins with your acknowledgment of these terms.

Before completing your membership purchase, you will be asked to confirm that you have reviewed the Membership Terms, Membership Policies, and the membership information presented to you.

By completing your membership purchase, you agree to be bound by the terms and policies applicable to your selected membership.
